Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

From a reportedly “bad” vintage in Napa this is firing on all cylinders. Fruit from Pritchard Hill rarely disappoints.

In the right hands there is never a bad vintage. My utmost respect to Zelma Long!!

I've had the good fortune of tasting quite a few vintages from this winery and (still having a slight preference for their 1979) all the wines from Zelma Long are simply fantastic and deserves serious attention if aged CA is your thing.

Super cool wine from last night

My wife and I have no idea how this came into our cellar, or anything about Long Vineyards really. But man, this is a beautiful Napa Cabernet, very much in the style of @Cathy Corison and White Rock Vineyards. The 22 months in new French has completely integrated after 14 years, and now it is redolent (first time using that word) with cassis, black olive tapenade, dried herbs, and fine, dusty tannins.

When we grill steaks, this is the type of old-school California we really dig.

Hey, this was good! Red currant, supple, green olives, herbs. Stylish.
