A nice pleasing burn in your nose greets you, followed by a warm sensation & a plum or blackberry note. Soft hints of vanilla & charred oak follow with a definite spice after note. This is a good bottle for the year with plenty of complexity for a wine so young.

Received this as a gift. Hot weather meant I chilled it down, perhaps slightly below room temp. The smell was of blackcurrant with a hint of strawberry jam, & the flavour largely reflected this. There was little in the way of spice which I had expected (temperature impact?). If anything there was a slightly dull thud of flavour in the aftertaste, not quite tangy but a similar sensation. Perhaps a bit vegetative; medium acidity, medium-low tannin nothing to excite the mouth.

Ruby in color with medium intensity and a light purple rim.

Nice fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, plums, red flowers, sweet candy, earth, pencil lead, coffee, peppercorn, herbs, tobacco leaf, vanilla, licorice, alcohol and light wood.

Medium in body with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, cola, licorice, cloves, bitter vegetables, peppercorn, tobacco, herbs and spices.

Medium finish with no tannins, bitter almonds and tart cherries.

A nice everyday red wine. Not fully balanced, but drinking nicely now. A little hot at the back of the throat and harsh. I didn't like the bitter finish either. Good for a bulk wine at a great price.

This reminds me of a California Pinot Noir, with a spunk.
Needs 2 hours to open up properly as it is too acidic right out of the bottle, but has a great nose.

I paired it with Parmesan cheese and crackers.

13.5% alcohol by volume.
