Soft hints of vanilla & charred oak follow with a definite spice after note. This is a good bottle for the year with plenty of complexity for a wine so young.

The smell was of blackcurrant with a hint of strawberry jam, & the flavour largely reflected this. There was little in the way of spice which I had expected (temperature impact?). If anything there was a slightly dull thud of flavour in the aftertaste, not quite tangy but a similar sensation. Perhaps a bit vegetative; medium acidity, medium-low tannin nothing to excite the mouth.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
On the nose black currants, black plums, oak, earth, spices, tobacco, leaf, vanilla, medicine and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, blueberries, currants, vanilla, wood, spices, tobacco, bitter herbs, vegetables and black pepper.
Short finish with no tannins and tangy raspberries.
This simple Australian Shiraz is drinking nicely now, better than last year. Balanced and drinkable by itself or with food.
Feels a little fake, especially on the nose, but not bad for a bulk wine. A good everyday wine on a budget.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
84 points.
$7.
