Deep purple color with aromas of ripe dark fruits, floral, cedar and sweet baking spices. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and plum with notes of black pepper, cacao, licorice and cinnamon. Fine tannins, long finish ending with ripe fruit and spice. Nice!

New label but the same always-reliable Zinfandel. Huge aroma of crunchy black fruit and red fruit with wild raspberry, elderberry, mulberry, plum and licorice. Tannins are soft and elegant, vibrant acidity and a warm undercurrent of dried herbs (think a Sonoma version of garrigue) give this wine charm and dimension. It’s lovely. 14.8% abv

The 2019 Zinfandel (Russian River Valley) is bright and full of energy. Ripe red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, spice, lavender and mint are front and center in this refreshing Russian River Zinfandel. Floral notes and bright acids perk up the finish. This is such a gorgeous wine, and also a great introduction to this lineup. The Russian River Zinfandel is really a Zinfandel-based field blend from Limerick Lane and a handful of other properties, including Banfield, Collins, Sodini and Ponzo. And now finally back to the regularly scheduled program. After fun holiday travels, non-fun work travels, and then battling 🤒, I finally was able to enjoy a glass of wine last night. I went with the Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Zinfandel and it was a nice choice. Nothing fanciful about the wine, but I do consider it to be a reliable Zin option.

Last night this 2019 was giving lots of dark fruit, licorice, and a bit of herbs. The wine shows both balance and refinement. In terms of style, this wine tends to be a more reserved Zin— not overly jammy. The abv is listed at 14.8% but does not come across that high.

This wine wants to be served with a giant burger, melted Swiss cheese, mushrooms and grilled onions. Or maybe that’s just me and my “finally not sick” cravings. I didn’t have a burger, but it was still enjoyable.
