Lewis Wines
Texas High Plains Cinsault Mourvedre Rosé Blend
@Delectable Wine : This is the Lewis Grenache Rosé. Identified wine wasn't available to choose from.
This was another of the few TX wines that really impressed us. Lewis served up 4, 4!, different rosés during our tasting, all leading up to this one. Similarities to the Calais Gaston Rosé (which was our favorite rosé from the trip) but the silkiness to this was super unique. Very pale pink, lots of grapefruit but even a hint of dates on the finish. Doug Lewis took us on a private tour and provided some awesome barrel samples of Syrah and petite sirah that will be worth buying by the case. I'm so glad TX has accepted the fact that it can't be Napa, and is embracing non-Cabernet and Chardonnay varietals, because it is changing the TX wine industry as a whole in a great way.

Refreshing rosé resembling a Provençal. 76% Cinsaut and 25% Mourvèdre. Light and easy to drink.

Jun 2nd, 2019Cellartracker was quite harsh on this one, because someone gave it an 85. On the last trip to Fredericksburg, we discovered the existence of this wine and were able to taste the 15 and 16 Rose wines side by side. This one was the clear victor. Strawberry and rose petals on the nose. The entry is strawberry crush and a Rose petal perfume out of the glass. Medium density. Great acidity. The middle of this wine goes to an herbal hearthiness with a great limestone and mineral grit, with excellent long finish. The 16 by comparison tends to have a lot more citrus and pink grapefruit with higher acidity. Still pretty damn good but this seems to be typical for 16 TX Rose across the board except for Kuhlman. Texas makes some awesome Rose if you know where to find it
