Les Trouvés
Mourvedre Grenache Syrah
First, this is a Washington state red wine; not French. Nice layered red. Paired well with Dove dark chocolate, brought out cocoa flavor in wine. Paired with 72% cacao Ghirardelli, astringency in finish was accentuated more

Feb 14th, 2019Medium dark reddish purple. Aromas of blackberry, black olive, violets, black pepper, and herbs. The palate offers juicy dark fruit, savory notes, and fine grained tannins although it’s a bit hot at 14.8% alcohol. Nice entry level Rhône blend made from 62% Mourvèdre, 21% Syrah, 17% Grenache.

Nov 20th, 201840/40/20 MSG, not glutamate, and not France but Washington state. Dense cloudy purple. Soy, butter and blackberry in nose. Blackberry, cherry, ink flavors with green herb (dill?) and seed tannins on finish. Astringent herbal aftertaste. Softens a bit with time.

Jun 11th, 2018A very unique GSM blend, heavy on SM. Deep burgundy in color. The blackberry, pepper and green plant notes are pronounced on the nose. The taste is complex, fruit forward, it gives way to a long lasting tannin finish that makes you want to chew. The tannins soften nicely after an hour or so out of the bottle.

1 person found it helpfulApr 2nd, 2018@Bob McDonald - Here you go. 56% Grenache, 29% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre. Aromatics show the red berry Grenache side of this with lots of cracked pepper & structure on the palate. The Fall’s debut album is a raw, garage masterpiece that sounds like it came out last week rather than 40 years ago.

Mar 19th, 2019Color of hazy shades of purple with yellow note on the rim. Nose of nice cocoa, ripe cherry and dried strawberries, sweet raisins and jammy, and milk chocolate. Taste follows similar but more lightly. In addition, there are good tannins, savory spice, and a bit roasted bbq flavor. Aftertaste is a bit too light with some harpy note. Overall he nose is nice while the taste is not on par with the nose.

Sep 23rd, 2017Glad I held the second bottle for a bit longer. This one tasted very nice, not as young as the first bottle I opened. Still lots of character to this wine: pepper, spice, berry. Definitely smoothed out. Nice.

Jun 12th, 2017A Provençal blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah, Les Trouvés, from Avennia’s Chris Peterson, is pliant and lightly saline, with an alluring chocolatey quality to its sweet black fruit, wild herb and licorice flavors. Ripe tannins and a peppery nuance add punch to its finish. (ST)
