Les Halos de Jupiter
Vacqueyras Red Rhone Blend
Vacqueyras, Southern Rhône, Rhône, France

Deep bright-rimmed magenta. Mineral- and smoke-accented cherry, black raspberry and garrigue scents pick up a sexy incense nuance as the wine opens up. Sweet, seamless and energetic on the palate, offering intense red and blue fruit, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that deepen through the back half. Concentrated yet light on its feet, playing power off delicacy with a smooth hand and finishing impressively long, sweet and subtly tannic. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

Quarantine materials ready. Creature comforts are getting me through this thing. Give me good coffee, pavement to pound, a pen that dances on the page, a worn notebook with still empty pages to fill, jazz weaving the air, and a bottle of wine, and I will kill all the time there is.
A magenta shawl in the glass.
Earth’s fragrance caught in a bottle. Sweet, sweet clay. Leather. Intense plums and orange zest. Sea breeze. This is a memorable and rich bouquet.
Subtle smoke quality reminiscent of the char in the bark of good brisket. A reserved dark fruit quality which is there, but just teases you as a spicy black peppercorn note swings in for a jab. It’s smooth.
An eloquence in the expression and structure. Like a mathematical proof or a line of poetry you cannot easily forget.
It slaps.

Nose of twilight - dark fruit and leather.
Deep, dried plum, fig , prune. The acid and tannins are both big, bold, and have no issues with shyness. The finish is in your face in a full on fight club. May be a bit smoother in 5 - 10 more.. still quite good now, decanted 4 hours.

Very smooth, just nothing jumped out at us. Overpowered by our lamb dish.

Sep 5th, 2017Absolute heaven. It starts off earthy, warms up to full fruit then ends with a light raspberry/blueberry finish. Delicious.
