Powerful Shiraz with nice acidity and fine grained tannins. Great food wine. Bursting with baking spices, ripe blueberry and cassis on the nose with a little black pepper, grilled herbs and gunflint thrown in for good measure. Palate was rich and intense with mouth coating blue and black fruits, mouthwatering acidity and a long lasting finish. Really surprising wine that we got as part of a gifted year of the California Wine Club. Best wine we’ve had from that club so far.

This food and wine match makes me drool 🤤

In Wine Selectors 2019 Calendar Collection they’ve matched this Hunter Valley Leogate Estate 2015 Brokenback Vineyard Shiraz with chef Bryan Anton's pistachio crusted lamb rack, pea cous cous and tahini cucumber yoghurt sauce. Yum!

You’ll find this $40 wine in Business Class cabins on Qantas international flights too!

On the eye I found this Aussie Shiraz a deep red brick 🧱 colour. Notes of blackberries, cherries and plums dominate the nose for me with hints of spice and oak coming through. In the mouth it’s juicy, fruit forward, rich and bold with a big long finish. Definitely one to get out the decanter for 🍷

Thank you Wine Selectors for spoiling my taste buds with this bold red wine sample 😘
