Niederösterreich Grüner Veltliner

Another liter of Grüner !

It's Grüner season! I ordered this.

Love these simple dry German / Austrian wines. Pairs well with everything in my mind, and cheap as hell in Germany. Not as cheap here but cheap enough to remind me the bargain they are overseas. Weisswein schorle forever. Oh yeah, stone fruit notes, maybe a bit peppery, but dry, so up my alley for a daily wine.

Nose is jasmine. Taste is zingy limes, green apples and minerals. Finish is dry almost chalky.

This has held up well

Trocken. Means dry. Let’s hope it’s dry. Light color of spring water and chamomile tea. Smells nice. Lemon cream soda? Citrus blossoms and sweet grass? Flavor is fine. More of a simple sipper. Very on a par with vino verde. Maybe a hint less effervescent and more honey. It’s enjoyable and easy. Good for pool side quaffing. For thanksgiving turkey or the like, I’d go for a bit more bite to the Grüner.

Great Gruner with a little more body than most. Even better on the 4th day surprisingly.

Pretty basic, but it accompanied a roast chicken well. Light and zippy enough to down the whole bottle.

I'm not big on whites generally, but this is so light and flavorful -- summertime perfection.
