Law Estates tasting tonight. My first time trying the wines. Wonderful Paso fruit with very unique and impressive winemaking.

Not sure why this is identified as a Syrah Blend, as this is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, with a dash of Syrah. Very unique. For me, petit Verdot comes across as very underripe black fruit with chalky tannic structure...and I got those notes here. It definitely got better in the glass with some red licorice and smoked cedar, but this is a don’t touch for 5-7yrs minimum.

I think I found a new fav! Coming from Paso Robles and man does it make a showing. Licorice/anise and jam jar on the nose. Super concentrated in the glass, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Mocha, raspberry and black pepper on the palate. Lots of layers and flavor. @Law Estate Wines

2012 Vintage. 42% Syrah, 28% Petit Verdot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Grenache. Sounds like a strange blend, but man was this happening. Opened as our second 2012 for the Zoom tasting. Knocked our socks off!

I probably shouldn’t have of opened this bottle for another five years. Luckily, I’ve got four more. Sage and limestone on the nose. Slightly under ripe plums on the front of the palate. The nose and the front result from the dominant Petite Verdot. At the midpoint the tannins from the Syrah (and the minuscule amount of Cab) kick in. Velvety soft at the mid-palate with a calcaire finish. As an aside, I’d say that Law Estates is one of the three best vineyards in Paso Robles.

2012 Vintage. 15.5% Alcohol. Bold blend of 42% Syrah, 28% Petit Verdot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Grenache. Wine of the night. Just lovely with power and depth as well.

2013 opened Dec 2017. This wine needs to breathe for an hour or so before it really opens up. Jammy and almost syrupy upon opening, but the underlying calcaire comes through after it sits awhile. The strong dark fruits on front of the palate dissipate a bit -- then its minerality comes through and it's smooth tannins all the way down!!
