Jun 7th, 2018Bright pale yellow. Fresh and layered nose with white floral notes, citrus zest, provenance herbs and minerality. Medium plus acidity (6.5/10) and medium bodied. Crisp and refreshing on the palate, wet stones, white flowers, tropical and stone fruits. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2024.

Feb 18th, 2018I was able to attend another Wednesday Wine Committee this week and it did not disappoint (they never do). As normal, all wines are tasted blind (1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert).
White of the day for me. This started out as a boring white compared to the other two, but by the time guesses were made, this was flat out stellar. White burgundy was the guess of most, especially Mersault. Quite the compliment! Oak came through at the end, with lemon cream but fairly low acid. Almond brioche notes up front. Absolutely superb!

Great opportunity to try some wines from Lauren Ashton Cellars prior to release. First up is the Roussanne which comes from the Dineen Family Vineyard in the Columbia Valley. Clear and bright pale yellow. A little tight to start off with on the nose, some light hints of something cheesy and smokey. Opened up in the glass with some pears, citrus and white floral aromas. Savory start on the palate with lots of wet stones in the finish. After a few hours it became even smoother with some citrus and stone fruits. Moderate acidity (6/10) and full bodied. Beautifully complex bottling with a long and lingering finish. Great Roussanne, terrific value and definitely recommended. Drink till 2023.
