Las Almenas
Chardonnay
Unusual white from Spain, a Chardonnay. Very crisp, sees no oak and grapes not treated with pesticides. Golden color with tropical fruit aromas, and carry through to palate adding some baking spice not typical of a Chard, resemblance of ginger and nutmeg. Needs some food to enjoy. Medium ending with a crisp finish.

Very interesting nose of minerals, citrus, peaches, tropical fruits and apples.
Medium-bodied and crisp, with high acidity and nice legs.
Tart and bitter on the palate with citrus, grapefruits and almonds.
Tart finish with bitter almonds.
This Unoaked, Spanish Chardonnay, is not for me, but a good food wine. Not so good as a sipping wine. Would be nice with salads or seafood.
14% alcohol by volume.

2015v. Pale yellow, faint aromas of citrus (lemon, orange peel), no oak on the palette. Pretty crisp acidity (if not outright tart/bitter) when first opened, but fades noticeably after the bottle has been opened. Overall, this wine is a disappointment and is unbalanced. Lack of flavor and body means the alcohol swamps the mouth (even though it's just 12%). Drink it soon after opening, preferably with food--or drink something else, entirely.
