This is what you want on a Nero d’Avola. That tang of acidity that works so well with food (we had a homemade flatbread with sopressata). Enough body and fruit to match the heat of the hot toppings, and a lovely sense of place: you could sense the hot hillsides of Sicily.

Nose: cherry, berry, and maybe some pepper? soft. Spicy. Some earthy-leather notes. Very well balanced. Cherry. Off dry. Really enjoyable.

Italy. Red. Sicily.
A good deep red Nero d’avola but the price point is higher $17 and I preferred cheaper ones like Liotro and Colosi, which seemed more robust. Blackberry dominates the nose, and this went well with my tomato salad. 13.5% alc by vol.
