I love me a good Aussie Shiraz, in fact it’s probably the red style and variety we drink the most around our place.
We picked up this Zonte’s Footstep Lake Doctor Shiraz Viognier 2018 (Langhorne Creek, SA) from Laithwaites for about $30.
‘Zonte’s Footstep’ in the name on the vineyard which came about while replanting in 1999, when they came across some HUGE footprint 👣 said to be from the largest known marsupial to have ever lived - the Diprotodon (also called giant wombat).
The wine is a deep black red garnet shade in the glass. Stewed plums and black pepper spice dominate the nose for me. While on the palate it’s juicy and fruity with some warming spice and a long finish.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
