This 2015 bottle lives up to the hype. Uneventful nose is followed by an extravagantly chewy mouthfeel. The sweet chocolate notes are perfectly balanced with the astringency of barrel and rye flavors. Barrel char, oak, white pepper, and nutmeg. This is one of the finest barrel aged stouts I’ve ever had. It lingers on the palate with smoke and leather like the finest whiskeys. I dare say this is the best expression of what High West whiskey has to offer.
