Howell Mountain Malbec

Very tight and earthy out of the bottle even after a double decant. After an hour + this opened to amazing blackberry, blueberry and loads of cherry. Tannins and finish are just elegant. Might be one of the best Malbecs ever from Ladera.

I'm giving this the super nod. 2015 Drinking brilliantly. Loads of balance and fruit. Opens with clove and a sweeter spice. Tannins are perfect. Paired this with a very peppery filet and it really worked.

Needed to breathe to mellow.

This is getting much better. Another gem from Ladera. Plenty of jammy figs and licorice. Black berries compliment those chewy tannins. Drinking well now.

Opened another bottle. Just a bit light. Plenty of complexity but lacking the fruit and dynamics of Howell Mtn. I needed more.

Toasty notes of Blueberry and some spice. Howell Mtn elevation. Cocoa and dark cherry on the palate. One of the better Malbecs but other vintages shine.

Malbec. Ladera. Just perfect. Smoky. Velvety. This a great Malbec. Loved Ladera. Incredibly sad they sold out. What a shame.

I want to take a bath in the 2012.
