l'Acino
Giramondo Calabria Malvasia
Calabria, Italy

Giramondo was born unoaked, but this version with the more orange label rather than yellow it has an extra passage in acacia oak.
It is more compact and savoury perhaps
Very good wine, this can be quite a benchmark for the local malvasia. No brainer in a way, but plenty of flavour and intensity. I reckon the malvasia and the guarnaccia bianca are amazing expression in this region.

Difference with the one i drank a couple of days ago is the 12 months ageing period in a mulberry barrel which has taken away a bit of pleasure, but given an interesting mulberry/woody note
I preferred the one with no wood

Great character
Generous, mineral, a touch smoky
Fairly long and recognisable
