Oct 9th, 2019Boutique Syrah from Napa. Dark ruby on the glass. It is immediately complex on the nose with ripe blackberry, pomegranate, smoke, meat and a hint of pepper. The complexity continuous on the pallet and amplified with a silky mouthfeel and a prolonged cocoa finish. At seven years it is dry with firm tannings and very structured which only means it has another seven years of aging left, if not more. Definitely a highlight wine; complex and powerful yet elegant, as serious Syrah should be. A great homage to Norther Rhone wines; if I would have tasted this alongside other red Northern Rhone Wines I would have not told them apart; and that is a good thing.
