Aviatrix California Grenache

Cranberries, raspberries, and plums. Higher alcohol than I’m used to in Grenache at 14.9%.

Not at all what I expected - this had a classic S. Rhône Grenache profile. I actually can’t believe this is a product of California. Subtle nose of strawberry, earth, pepper that lacked the power to compare it to a CdP - drinks like a nice CdR. Not enough here to justify the $40+ price in my opinion and there are lots of wines for way less that compare. Still it’s impressive that they were able to produce this where they did. Pretty wine.

Superb Grenache. Vanilla and dried fruit. Hints of pepper. Sweet and soft. A bit of talcum.
