Popped and poured. The 2021 Toscaia “Sangiovese in Bianco” is a fun exercise in a still wine made with red grapes that have no skin contact. The results are an ostensibly red wine in a white package: cherry cream, red flowers, orange rind; even some light tannins. The acid is what I expect from Sangiovese too. A mind trick of sorts. But like Pepsi “Crystal”, just because you can, does it mean you should? Drink now.

My first red wine made with no skin contact a “Sangiovese in bianco ” and I really enjoyed it! Honeydew, white peaches, lemon/lime, and gooseberry on the nose and front pallet that develops into a rich and creamy mid pallet with a spicy long finish this wine is something unique and fun while providing a complex ride on the taste buds
