Damn. Under $20. Old vines (80+ yrs old) Density, freshness, and classic garrigue. This is everything that is profound with Carignan.

Dark dress, with a beautiful glow of youth. Nose of young wine, dominated by black fruits, licorice, smoke touch, spices, garrigue.
In the mouth it is robust, but fresh. The attack is sharp, on the acidity, counterbalancing the alcohol (14 TAV), the tannins were fleshy but in place with a little ventilation.
Beautiful aromatic persistence on the final with a bouquet made of black fruits/vegetable/spices. Very good quality/price/pleasure ratio and an interesting opportunity to taste this grape variety outside the usual setting of southern blends.

Joanna loves this one. Bought in Cincinnati. Grape is normally a blender. This is pure one from really old vines. Light with some complexity.

Our favorite staple from green grape. Interesting, smooth, medium to full carignan.

Côté de thongue. Belle couleur grenat. Vin dense, arôme de fruits rouges confits. Ça sent le soleil

Pomegranate, Mediterranean herbs, tar, licorice, smoke and game jump from the glass in the 2010 Carignan Vieilles Vignes. This juicy, savory Languedoc red delivers serious quality and personality for the money. (AG)

Smooth at first but a bit tangy in the after taste, very nice flavoring all around, a nice blend of flavors
