Impenetrably dark and brooding with a slight ruby core. Very pleasant nose of cocoa, old licorice, black cherries, and tobacco. This baby works very hard to not let the oak dominate everything going on here and succeeds. Interesting juxtaposition with this. Big and bold, of course but also a bit subtle and graceful. Firm tannins and just enough acid. The fruit is the star of the show. Beautiful notes of red and blue fruits and tons of herbs. This is too early to open this and now I’m wondering what this fruit will be like a few more years down the road.
