It's winter red season ya'll! This 2015 Krondorf Shiraz from the Barossa Valley can be found at BWS for $17. I was lucky enough to snap up a sample bottle and even luckier that the colour of the wine perfectly matches our lounge room rug - I didn't realise the smart decision we made on buying the rug until Crackle, one of our cats, swipped a glass of this off the table with his tail! Note to self: always buy red rugs!
On the eye this spicy little number is a deep scarlet red colour - just like our rug! On the nose 👃 I pick up whiffs of red licorice, hints of mint and it has a creamy/smooth character to it. In the mouth it tastes like 'freshly picked, straight off the bush black currants' as Mr. Spittoon put it. It's juicy and minty with a punch of white pepper and a smooth mouthfeel. The rug also enjoyed its slurp if it.
