Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

My #3 in this 2007-2018 vertical.

Smokey, spices and laced with a layer of new oak. As it opened up with a few hours of breathing the alcohol leveled off and the fruits (mostly raspberry, cranberry, red cherries) and some cola came thru nicely!

This was a treat. A velvety wine with dark cherry as the predominant flavor. Wonderfully balanced with hints of oak.

Good solid wine. Not complex. Very big style. Woody palate

Good with light meat

Nose is old world in a good way. Acidity is still very high.... ripe fruit notes with a long finish brining out the barrel.

10th wedding anniversary so it's time to dig into the 07 stash. This wine is fantastic. Past prime, but still exceptionally good. Dried cherries and pipe tobacco with dark chocolate and black tea notes. A hint of raisin (hence past prime), but the tannins are still strong and the acid is manageable. Long, smokey, chocolate finish.

Intense. Herbal and meaty. Spicy. Ripe black fruit. Full bodied, a little hot, soft texture.
