WTF of the Syrah night, a $28 Chilean Syrah that was punching with Ali. Another Oz-alike (but was that just confirmatory bias), Rick and pure bramble fruit, high extraction, long and slightly alcoholic finish. Really well done.

On the nose; soft & really nice perfumed florals. Quiet ripe fruits of; dark cherries, blackberries, blueberries, black raspberries, black & plum. Vanilla, light cinnamon, light sweet spice, light pepper, black licorice, sweet tarry notes, rich dark soils with bright red floral and beautiful violets.

The body is round and full. The tannins are soft, rounded and velvety. Ripe, ruby fruits of; dark cherries, blackberries, blueberries, black raspberries, black, strawberries as it opens & plum. Vanilla, light cinnamon, light sweet spice, light pepper, black licorice, loamy dry top soil, crushed rock powder, understated sweet tarry notes, rich dark soils with bright red floral and beautiful violets. Acidity is again round and waterfallish. The long finish is nicely polished, elegant, balanced and beautiful.

Photos of; their small cellar facilities. They sell much more fruit than they make into wine. More Estate vines from our walk of the property and another one of their beautiful Casablanca Valley vistas.

Poor thing! Opened way too early, and didn't get a chance to shine due to the avalanche of wines preceding it. Tried to decant for hours. Still didn't achieve the proper result! BIG BIG wine with amazing depth. Ponderous and brooding, like a subterranean Leviathon, yet all it's parts are there. Dark smoky terroir spilling off it's iridescent fruit scales, Syrah muscles rippling, buoyant acidity, complexity shimmering like inlaid gemstones, each facet a new expression. Lip smacking, lingering, with smooth, but huge tannins! Pure, skilled winemaking in harmony with Mother Nature! Gonna save the next one for a long while, and enjoy it as the ONLY wine of the night! Spectacular!

Softer than I expected. Lot of cherries, and a spicy finish as bottle opened up

Found a true jammy Aus shiraz here in Casablanca. For a 12 year old, dust on the bottle vino, the plum fruit body is still lively on tip of the tongue and transitions into a black pepper spice. The tickle of spice emphasizes the lush tannins, soft but ever present. This complex Syrah melts until the finish and leaves a mindful presence of depth and superb character.

Boysenberry, prune, round. A cool- climate, "I'm here" chewy quality.

This "cool climate" Syrah- medium bodied, notes of rich softly dried plums, herby and light tannins- was a nice surprise. Enters the palate, says "I'm here", enveloping it fully then cuddling to the finish line.
