I've heard rave reviews about the 2014 vintage from a good number of the producers in the Monticello region of Virginia. Now I know why. The '14 Keswick Merlot is an example of why the Merlot grape is not-so-quietly growing in its acclaim up and down the Atlantic coast. CONSISTENCY is the buzz word, and it shows in this example. It's bright on the nose with stewed cherry and bright, light hints of mocha. PERFECT with a sirloin steak and pierogies. Delicious, juicy mouthfeel and a satisfying finish. It's a perfect introduction to the bright future that's brewing in Virginia.

Dark red color, smooth, tastes spicy and cherry. I put a star by this during the tasting.

Amazed by how this aged. For a Touriga (not sure if grown in VA) processed in Virginia this wine has solid big red properties.
