Just beat the ‘84 Mondavi by a hair. Fruits weren’t quite as “stewed” and the acidity was carrying everything really well. Good leather notes with a crunchy/cranberry finish. Surprise of the night for me.

Horrible bottle appearance, but an amazing wine underneath. The style of cali cab you so rarely see today. Elegant, subtle, and peppery.

Was not expecting such youth: dark ruby to brick rim, sour cherry, creme de cassis, eucalyptus, brown sugar, peppercorns... Wow!

Perfect bottle in cork and fill. From laurel glen and Steiner vineyards on Sonoma mountain. Old school, room-filling perfume of iron, lifted red fruit, laurel bay, pink peppercorn and sweet pipe tobacco. A real beauty drinking at its peak.
