Sipping Fine Wine

Had a 2013 tucked away in my cellar, wanted to see how this would stand up to age, opened on 5/6/18. The first Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay was released in 1983. Golden yellow color, some gentle oak and very ripe stone fruit aromas. Ripe apple and apricot fruits on the palate with vanilla and some buttery oak on the finish. Aged very well, to me stands up to wine in $25 range. Good value for a wine to entertain a crowd that won't break the bank.

Notes of pear, lemongrass, some fresh apples, oaky vanilla influences on the rounded after-taste. Not overly oaked to keep it still rather refreshing.

Aromas of oak and slight green apple, with honeycomb. Sweet taste with medium acidity and creamy vanilla and apple.

Unmistakable peach overtones from start to finish. We had this with smoked rotisserie chicken-
Good combination.

2013...paired well with shrimp tacos, steamed broccoli and wild rice pilaf. Buttery and mouthy, an excellent choice for those stuck on red.

Fruity nose suggests something good might be contained in the glass. Unfortunately, palate is wholely unpleasant. Mega fail. Maybe this case got too hot during shipping.
Revised after 15 minutes: after opening up (or maybe palate waking up) much more pleasant. Red fruit, bramble, wood and a touch of smoke and tobacco. Decent.
