Solid. Fruity with a slightly musty aftertaste.

This young Dry Creek Valley Zin verges on the jamminess of Lodi style, but stops just short. It is only 14.5% alcohol and has just a bit of residual sugar. It tastes of ripe strawberries with some blackberry to the finish.

Chris and I had some differences of opinion on this wine. While we both agreed it was the best bottle we had from our Naked Wines case, Chris was not impressed. He had difficulty distinguishing flavors and felt the wine was lacking complexity. I felt the wine tasted heavily of cherry, blackberry, and pomegranate. I also got plum and currant. Another great effort to extend California Zinfandel past the frankly silly port-like style as which it has become stereotyped, this Zin shatters the mold. It retains the varietal's residual sugar with a smooth body, avoiding the syrupy sweetness that plague many attempts in favor of a mineral plum and blackberry tone. Great wine for Italian food and a decent substitute for Chianti.

A delicious and balanced Zinfandel, ripe strawberry fruit with restrained sugars. Not what you might expect from this varietal.

Warm sophisticated berry nose. Full bodied, balanced with fruity tannin. Long satisfying finish.
