Kavaklidere
Selection Öküzgözü Boğazkere
My first Turkish wine. Very drinkable and smooth Merlot quality wine, not to dry and not very fruity. Pretty smooth performer similar to a good Georgian table wine.

Nov 25th, 2014A neat, unusual variety wine. Color is a dark garnet, but with a medium intensity and slightly orangish edges. Nose of sweet cherries and dried earth. Palate is balanced with notable red fruit, strong earthy notes, and a but of surprising licorice. Also notes of kola nut, nutmeg, and light cocoa powder lead to a long and pleasantly strong finish. Medium acidity and very fine tannins give this a Pinot noir-like aspect. Nice.
