Lateral California Red Bordeaux Blend

This was a 25 year wine that just delivered in spades. Perfumed nose. Decanted and evolved every 15 min. Delicious. 🙌

A bottle I have been looking for in my storage for quite awhile and finally found last night. A little Bordeaux blend for after dinner conversation. Thought this wine would have been more evolved with nearly 10 years in bottle. Still very youthful. The texture round and silky, dark currants, loads of baking spices; vanilla, cinnamon clove and a dash of nutmeg. Mocha, chocolate, soft, understated, dark top soils and earth with fresh & withering dark florals. @PlateAndBottle

Little past the prime, elegant, but oak little too present.

27 years in and that's the appeal

Mulberry, spicy vanilla. Espresso. Bright and balanced acid. Excellent mouth feel. Silky texture.

Earthy nice tannins. Nice balance. Tobacco.

Santa Cruz Lillian's smooth red

Opened up beautifully. Really smooth

A nice bordelaise blend marred by overexuberant oak. Vanilla-and-fruit sandwich initially but it mellowed and eventually gave more Cab Franc notes of herbs and cassis. More interesting than when first opened. Could be confused with modern Bordeaux.

Great balance of all good Bordeaux blends - loooooong legs, berries and oak in complimentary proportions, good for another 5-10 years.
