Working our way through the 2012s, although after this tasting maybe we should wait another year or so. This is a strong, dark, bold Pinot. Dark in color and opacity, dark, ripe, stewed red fruits, dark tobacco and oak. LOTS of life left in this but still drinking well now. Not as good IMO solo vs. with food, where it has previously been exceptional, but a favorite none the less.

One of my all-time favorite wines. Insane value for $20...2012 is drinking amazing. Still lots of candied cherries but the fruit is so closely integrated with the tobacco, oak, tannins, acid. Holding on to the rest but plan to check in once a year- what an amazing wine.

One of my favorite wines from one of my favorite vintages! Dark ruby red, low viscosity, very small sediment in last glass. Nose is intense for a Pinot- dark, stewed cherries, cigar box, vanilla, rubbing chocoholic, cherry cough drops. Palette sees medium+ acid, tart raspberries and cherries, black tea, fresh ground pepper corn, medium+ finish of medium complexity. This is what I love in pinots- acid, tart fruit, and aromatic nose. A canonical/classic example of Willamette Pinot at its best. Will be sad when I’m through my last few 2012s...and amazing ROI given mid $20 purchase price. Thank you, Ken and Mauro!
