Very fresh, juicy, concentrated, funky in just the right way. Blackberry and menthol. A pretty peppery quality. So clean and juicy and elegant. I’ve found all of Sunier’s wines to be top notch and in league with the region’s best producers.
Update: on the half full bottle that has been in my fridge for a week, it’s positively stunning.. resolved into the most seductive florals. Rerating to 9.4. Bodes very well for storage.

On the nose: violets, iris, blueberry, blackberries, Concord grape and cinnamon (after the natty funk blows off). Damp undergrowth. Red fruit (raspberries, red currant) comes through more on the palate. Be patient with this wine. It takes a moment or two to open up in the glass. The 18 Fleurie has the hallmark silkyness (yes, I’m making this a word) that keeps me coming back to Sunier’s wines.

Maybe needs one year to balance out but was already nice. Prefer 2017 but I wouldn’t hesitate to grab Sunier wines when I can
