La Montagne Chiroubles Gamay
Sat night at home after Magic Square.
Rich red fruits on the nose, with hint of smokiness. Sweet tannins. Mellow acidity. Highly approachable now.
“Cru Beaujolais, from a single plot of 60-year-old vines grown on granite-quartz soils at over 500 metres in elevation.
“The 2019 Chiroubles La Montagne offers up appealing aromas of plummy fruit tones mingled with hints of smoked meats and spices. Medium-bodied, ample and enveloping, it’s supple and charming, with melting tannins and succulent acids. Enlivened by a light touch of residual carbon dioxide, it will make for pleasant near-term drinking.” RP90

Nose reminiscent of La Morra; muscular palate more like a Gevrey-Chambertin. A bit hot on the finish. Nice but a bit disjointed and suffers coming up to room temp over time.
