Happy to report no signs of premox. This wine however did throw me a curveball.
On opening the nose was reserved, giving hints of baked apples and almonds. The palate was silky but lacking real impact. However after 30 to 40 minutes in the decanter it flourished similar to a house plant after being watered for the first time in 3 days. Lots of apples , spice and pears bolstered by sneaky acid.
