I’m pleased with this. I’m not very familiar with Portuguese varieties, but this has some components that are like Bordeaux style blends and some that differ. There’s plum and blackberry fruit, with charred oak, strongish acidity, and low-medium tannins in the background. But there’s no earth or soil in the minerality , just a hint of clean rocks. This was a good price, and good with food. I had it with curry crusted haddock and roasted vegetables and potatoes.

1 person found it helpfulDec 15th, 2018Nice dark color. Blood and blackberry jam. Smells like berries, faintly. Flavor is nice. Tart and fleshy. Has some minerality and plenty of herbal flavor. Little anise, something minty, cola too. Berries are there in the mouth as well. Long finish with elegant notes. Balanced and tart. Tasty blend on the lower price point end of Douro reds.
