JL Giguiere
Pillars of Hercules Red Blend

54/27/19 blend of petite sirah, petit verdot and teroldego. Dense purple red. Floral, blueberry and blackberry aromas, blackberry jam, and black pepper finish. Some seed tannins, decant. After two hours, skin tannins get grippy, yet varietal flavors remain well expressed; you can taste the petite Sirah and petit Verdot in there, though I really am not familiar with teroldelgo as a varietal. Worth drinking just to see the future of world wines as growers continue to shift to new varieties that grow and express well with global warming

Feel this needs to be enjoyed with a steak. Strong aroma. Dark and opaque. Velvety texture. Medium high tannins. Vanilla. Heavy body. Big personality

Color of dark purple, quite inky. Nose of dark fruits, plum, currants, aldehyde, crayon, medicinal strawberry syrup, spicy alcohol in the nasal cavity, spice of leather, and hint of honey note. Taste follows the nose with addition of mellow tannins, cherry, vanilla, and a bit smoky feature. Aftertaste is medium long with warm alcohol in the throat. Pretty silky and tasty.

unusual blend of Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot & Teroldego (!) and it was really impressive. color of squid ink w/wafting aromas of blackberry pie, boysenberry, plum, Chambord, cassis, cocoa powder, vanilla and some pepper. one of the more decadent wines on the nose, and the flavors created a saturated palate - that said, didn't taste like a fruit bomb, nicely structured w/integrated tannins. it may have lacked a bit of polish, but over delivered for $13 @costco
