Deep, bright-rimmed magenta. Smoke- and spice-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas take on a suave floral quality with air. Supple and broad on entry and then more taut in the midpalate, offering bitter cherry, dark berry and candied licorice flavors and a hint of espresso. Finishes long and chewy, with dusty tannins lending final grip. 15% new oak. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2020)

Fun, drinkable, with oomph up front but balance as it develops. I wouldn’t call it restrained—it makes a statement then resolves with good manners.
