Revolutionary reveal that’s in its prime. Beautifully lush and yet defined with a wonderful precision of each varietal (39% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a healthy 18% of Petit Verdot) gracefully crossing the palate- the 2007 Jefferson Vineyards Meritage is one of my favorite Virginia wines of all time.

Really nice; shockingly smooth for an east coast wine.

- '08 likely won the day, with a combination of depth and complexity.
- '09 and '10 marked the beginning of a significantly oakier style. Unclear how they will evolve.

Still powerful, dry, with a distinct smoky/blacktop character.

Meritage vertical:
- '02 is intriguing, definitely in its mature phase with secondary flavors developing. Becoming a bit soft around the edges, so drink now
- '04 was the weak link, showing funky notes with no structure or fruit
- '05 was conversely still gripping and complex
- '06 was a baby, showing great balance and ready to drink or hold.
