Janotsbos
Bourgogne Chardonnay
Great wine. Nose of ripe apple, wild mint, some ML aromas and gorgeous pear. So pure and refined. Wow such great acidity and sweet, ripe Chardonnay fruit and gorgeously defined minerality and ample opulence in the mid palate. So juicy and energetic and finishes salty. Deceptively long finish.

Dec 21st, 2022Terrific, bright nose of apple, spice, minerals. So clean. Palate is juicy, clean, tart lime fruit, very mineral and great length. Really good density and depth. This was my fave Bourgogne Blanc before Brisset came along. Much better than my last bottle.

May 13th, 2021Best since 2014 and likely better. Nose of green apple, lime, minerals and has a classic old school white burgundy lean vibe. Love it. Smells like pre global warning white burgundy. Nuanced and layered. Palate has crazy energetic and acidity. Wow. Deep, minerally, lemony and so juicy. Has a Chablisean mineral urgency and flavor profile. So seashelly. Rich, structured and has an unreal midpalate with a hit of opulence. Then hits all razors and acidity.

Aug 9th, 2020Gorgeous nose of sweet lemon, minerals and candied petrified limes. Palate is sleek, mineral and fresh. So energetic and clean with a nice hit of opulence on the finish. Nice richness but also terrific bracing acidity. Very clean.

Jun 22nd, 2020A darn good value, if not quite at the extraordinary quality level of the ‘13. Nose has straw-laced Chardonnay fruit accented with melted butter-drizzled Burgundian gravel. Soft and mouthfilling. Pretty good concentration but is a little looser than the 13 version as the acids are there but are softer than many 14s. Hard to complain however at a mid-$20s price point (if I am remembering correctly).

Dec 8th, 2019Great nose. So precise and on point. Lemon, wet forest floor, minerals, candied but barely. Lovely classic 14 nose. Dynamic 2014 with lovely energy, purity and sap. So very pure and clean. Excellent depth and just so harmonious. Reminds me of the Mosel for some reason. Very mineral finish and lovely persistence.

Apr 13th, 2019Full of character, but a demanding style. Love the nose of wet, limestoney Burgundian earth, lemon oil, and sweet toast. Lean and intense in the mouth, with sweet lemon juice poured over intense and angular minerality. So good. Such a good value. The Brigette Nielsen of white Burgundies.

Mar 16th, 2019Janotbos is a new star in my opinion. Germanic like precision to these. Nose is all lime zest, flowers, minerals galore. Smells like the Mosel crossed with Puligny based Bourgogne Blanc. Rich and textured with wonderful cut and precision. Juicy and so delicious. Balanced. Really well made and village level quality.

Jun 23rd, 2018One of my new producers. Could not wait to pop this. Super expressive and mineral nose. Almost Chablisean. Mineral a f. Lemon/lime. Really nice. Palate is chewy, dense, mineral and clean with lovely palate weight and heft. Amazingly clean and pure wine.

Dec 25th, 2017Wow! Not your basic Bourgogne Blanc. With air and a little warming up, remarkable nose of wet earth, almond extract, lemon oil. Rich, zingy, and earthy minerally, I would easily believe this to be top-notch Meursault.
