Had to finally open one of my bottles, still young with a lot of red apple skin.

Blind tasting of nine Rochioli single vineyard Pinots, three each from 2000, 2004 and 2006. My least favorite of the group, seemed oddly shut down.

One of the great Pinot Noirs from California that I have sampled over the past year, the 2018 Rochioli ‘Little Hill’ is a thrilling joyride from start to finish. Salted pomegranate seed and rose water tones combine with raspberry coulis and damp earth tones on this beautifully perfumed nose. The palate is utterly seamless as layers of bright red fruits mingle with umami, orange rind and salted charcuterie tones. A complete wine, this gorgeous new effort will have a long life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2038- 95

En tous cas c’est trops de chene, mais d’une quality qui donne l’impression de sucre qui ce position a peut pres le niveaux de fruit. Interresent comme etude, mais toujour fort a 10 ans.

Deep scarlet color, almost opaque. Bright in the glass and bright in the nose. Nose of ripe cherries, strawberry, rhubarb, sandalwood and Asian spice. Some heat in the mouth. Huge nicely balanced wine. Can improve with more age I think.

Wow. Just...wow. Supple, soft, fruity with great depth and balance. Boysenberry pie on the nose--lots of dark berries. Cherry cola on the palate, beautiful long finish, enough acid to matter without being distracting. Nearly perfect.
