My first taste of the Gaglioppo grape. Dark ruby color. Aromas and flavors of bright red and black fruit, dark chocolate and spices. Long and lingering earthy/minerally finish. Medium plus body and bone dry. Bold and expressive but the tannins are not overbearing. Interesting and different.

Dec 10th, 2022Thick skinned with intense aromas of balsamic tinged black fruit. Dark, velvety and well balanced with ripe black raspberry, cherry and blackberry fruit. Fresh, powerful and sweetly fruited.

100% gaglioppo. This was the first Calabrian red I've tried. A good amount of tannin and oak. Strawberry and cranberry notes. Medium bodied. Not bad for the price but probably needs some heavier good to go with it.
