Ms. Irene Paiva again shows that she can do no wrong, with this perfectly balanced Carmenere. The style is Bordeaux big, without being too thick or chewy. Lots of dark cherry and currant flavors in a refined fruit-forward mix really make this wine pop as a cocktail sipper. Color me impressed (one again!)

This is an inky dark red, big and rich, but still fruit forward. The predominant flavors are strawberry, blueberry, and boysenberry, with a touch of herb, coffee, and pepper to the silky, mineral finish. When paired with Brie and crackers, the cheese tasted like chocolate!

An inky dark Carmenere, this Chilean offering is full bodied and mineral in mouthfeel. Dominant flavors are cherry, black currant, and blueberry. The tannic structure is dense and chewy. It was a perfect complement to seared steak with garlic caper salsa verde, fingerling potatoes, and pan-fried asparagus and radish.

Classy bottle. Except the cursive. Wine and cursive, seems like a thing… Deep dark pool of red-purple color in the glass. Smells like smoked plums. Bar-b-question? Tobacco too. Flavors are supple and very smooth for Carménère. Super fruited. Nice horehound candy edge. It leans toward the new world style, but it’s got a bit of complexity. Just a bit too far on the silk sheet end of the spectrum.
