1 person found it helpfulSep 19th, 2014I’m in New Zealand and we’re getting stuck into the #nzwine 🥳
We picked up this NZ$13 bottle from the local supermarket as Mr Spittoon was craving a Chardonnay (he has such good taste 😜). It’s a 2017 and is from Gisborne here in NZ.
If you’re not sure, Gisborne is on the east coast of the North Island and is know for its wineries 🍷 and surf 🏄♀️ beaches.
In the glass we found it a light golden lemon shade. It’s got a relatively big nose on it full of fresh pineapple, vanilla oak and grapefruit. While in the mouth it’s dry but makes you think of Manuka honey mixed with florals and apricots. It tastes rather big in alcohol (abv is 13.5%) which I wonder if it would mellow with a bit more age?
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Great wine for the price. Consistent performer year on year.

May 1st, 2020Nose: buttered toast, flowery, crisp melon. Stone fruit, pie crust and baking spices, soft butter, lime. Very nice finish. Drinking it too cold, will try to let it sit for a few. "Creamy and textural on the palate with a refreshing, lingering citrus finish"
