This is their Knights Valley Merlot which, is an AVA in Sonoma not Napa. I’ve requested Delectable adjust or add.

The nose reveals, ripe; dark cherries, plums, blackberries, black raspberries, baked strawberries on the edges & dark prune. Black licorice, soft volcanic minerals, vanilla, cinnamon, a touch of nutmeg, black raspberries cola, steeped fruit tea, limestone, crush rock and bright dry florals.

The body is medium but there are; big, tarry, sticky tannins. Drinks well now. The structure, tension, length and balance are well interlaced. Ripe; big black plum, dark cherries, plums, blackberries, black raspberries, baked strawberries on the edges & dark prune, Black licorice, soft volcanic minerals, vanilla, cinnamon, touch of nutmeg, black raspberries cola, steeped fruit tea, limestone, leathery, tobacco with ash, crush rock and bright dry florals. The acidity is nice. The well balanced finish is; rich, ripe, balanced fruit & earth. Really good things ahead for this one. Nice Merlot now but hold 5-7 years.

I don’t drink much New World Merlot but, I liked and bought a bottle Hunnicutt’s. Most of the Merlot based wines I drink are Right Bank. However, I look forward to revisiting it in 5-7 years.

Photos of; Hunnicutt, barely room, Hunnicutt sign that marks where they are on the Silverado Trail and a wider look at their tasting room and grounds.

As @David T said, this has bigger tannins. Cab lover’s merlot. Enjoy the tobacco and leather balanced with the generous fruit. This is a fun one-off one for hunnicutt. Good value.
