The son of the father of DR Stevens. Lots of ruby dark currants. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, mid red fruits pull up the rear. While the son is well trained by the father, his wine pushes the high alcohol burn limit right to the edge. Lots of baking spices, spice, crushed dry rocks, rich black soil, lavender, dry red roses, round acidity, and rich, big, well balanced long finish. Needs 10 more years.

Wine Wednesday- 2014 Kirk venge merlot blend edition
I highly recommend both of these. The hunnicutt cuvée ($85) is a rich, powerful blend of 60% farella merlot/40% kenefick cab. Every time we barrel taste, the farella merlot is always a stand out.
The y3 taureau ($20) is hard to beat for the price. More earth and less dark fruit than the cuvée, but it has nice espresso flavors.

93-94. Too bad they aren’t making more of this as realm is replanting the farella merlot to cab. I just love this vineyard for merlot. Blend it with kenefick cab and you got a winner.
