Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Part of a tasting at Marina Kitchen a few months back

Had a bit of browning around the edges. Little bit of prune as well but still nice. Can’t hold these any longer.

I thought the one we had prior was a little better. Some browning around the edge and a taste over extracted which I expect is due to the same factors. Great nose and the flavors were fine. It got more intense with air and that over extracted came out a bit more over time (decanted and the prior one was not). I would not decant and let it shine for a longer period.

I’m loving this and I was skeptical it would be very good (no idea why). Love the typical Cab flavored, finish and full mouth punch.

I’ve just really enjoyed these bottles of the ‘06. Such great fruit, in prime or slightly last, but drinking so well. Smooth, silky tannins, lovely black and purple fruit. Great finish.

Same comments. Nearing end of its drinking window. But the fruit is still black and juicy, black licorice, leather, tobacco. Nice mouthfeel and medium finish.

Same comments as before. Loads of fig and blackberry primary. Enjoyable but not very complex, nearing the end of its prime.

Lovely nose of black fruit, fig, plum, tobacco. Unique flavor profile, figs prominent, straight chewing tobacco, blackberry, black licorice, leather. Fruit flavors somewhat masked by the tobacco, licorice and leather. Different but still enjoyable.

Still drinking in its prime. Black fruit nose. Black fruit, black cherry with modest crème de cassis. Tannins still a bit dense and grippy. Holding together well. Medium-full bodied. Medium finish.

Nice fruit on the attack, not wow, but nice. The finish is more impressive and surprisingly long given that the initial is not huge. Probably would benefit from a little more cellar time, but very acceptable now.
