Dark purple. Smoky, oaky nose. Full body, balanced, quite dry. Blackberry, cocoa, tobacco on palate. Very good but not worth the price IMO. Glad I didn’t pay going rate! 91/100.

Jul 16th, 2020Wow! Dark fruit, tobacco and some earthiness on the nose. Deep, dark Garnett color in the glass. Intense fruit forward tastes of blackberries, dew berries and currants along with dark roast coffee, licorice and cocoa. Sleek mouthfeel and an incredibly long, luscious finish. Will be visiting Hourglass in a few weeks and I really can't wait!

Hourglass 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon: Grown on the producer’s four acre hillside vineyard in St. Helena, this deeply colored, purple hued Cabernet Sauvignon is quite impressive. It boasts a superb framework of power, fruit, tannin and acidity. Packed with a powerhouse of flavors redolent of black cherry, damson preserve and black currant fruit, accents of anise, warm barrel spice, and a pronounced mineral edge add complexity. Though rich and concentrated, this wine has an appreciable sense of freshness and energy. Overall, this is an appealing wine reflective of an excellent vintage and attention to detail in all aspects of the winemaking process. Prior to enjoying it, I recommend letting it get some air for at least an hour in your favorite decanter. Only 650 cases of this wine were produced. Region: St. Helena, Napa Valley, California.
