Introducing the @houghtonwines 2016 Shiraz from Western Australia, $13 a pop. Houghton’s have been making wine now for over 175 years. The 2015 vintage of this wine was judged best shiraz, best WA red wine and best red wine of show at last years Perth Royal Wine Show. Hopefully the 16 also lives up to the hype!
It’s a beautiful deep garnet colour on the eye. On the sniffer it makes me think of berry pie - warm with plenty of sweet fruit. There’s also a sprinkling of pepper and earthiness in there. In the mouth it’s juicy, smooth and plummy with soft tannins. Enjoyable on the wallet and the palate!

We picked up this Houghton 2013 Shiraz from a local bottle shop for about $15 (I see it's a mere $8 at Dan's 😬) to help get our #tcweekdaywine drinking on.
It's a dark plum red colour in the glass with a mix of red and black fruits on the nose intertwined with subtle cedar. On the palate I was picking up on cherries, vanilla and a peppery spice. Definitely quaffable for daily consumption 🙃
