Hospices de Beaune Cuvées are aged (raised) by various Negociants, in this case the highly accredited Australian winemaker, Jane Eyre. The nose is a little closed initially. Might have been opened a little early in its drinking window. The palate shows ripe red fruits (cherry) reflecting the warmer vintage. See previous Delectable note. The following night a peppery note. Luckily I have 3 left. Hopefully this will open up in the next few years and gain some complexity.

Oct 26th, 2024Took an hour+ to open up. Continues to evolve. This is lovely. Very well balanced acidity and puckering tannins throughout. I’m 90 minutes in and think the fruit may still be holding out. Not dull though, the fruit is still bright for a 16 year old. As it is there is boysenberry and raspberry but not delicate. Good thing as the fruit stands up to the acidity and tannins well.
Like the fruit, the nose remains subdued 90 mins in. There’s strawberry, a little mushroom, and clove.
In my Burgundy ignorance, I may be underscoring here. Really enjoying this.
